Winner in worldwide design competition for LG
CONCEPT: The “roto:retro” was designed to be a clean break from the trend of “shiny black slab” form factors. By going in a new direction — while also honoring the past — this design bridges the gap between sterile, feature-filled products and the iconic simplicity of early telephone designs.
FEATURES: The design is focused on phone functionality, communication, and “maximum cool factor” for market differentiation. Dual touch-screens make navigation easy and intuitive as well as eliminate infrequently used buttons.
FUNCTION: The position and separation of the speaker and microphone make for a better talking experience — while providing more comfortable long calls.
AWARD: The roto:retro received First Place in the LG Innovation Challenge, a world-wide design competition that generated 524 entries.
